From a psychological perspective, it’s a state of tunnel vision: the world shrinks to a single thought — “This is unbearable.”
The person sees no way out, no future, plunging into a crisis. Motivation fades, hopelessness settles in, and every action seems pointless.
The defining characteristic of this emotion is the absence of optimism and the thirst for life.
This is how our psyche signals the onset of depression.
“Despair is fear without hope.” — René Descartes
This work is part of the series “In the Company of Sigmund Freud”, in which the artist explores profound psychological states through symbolism and color.

My journey into the world of art began with art therapy — a method that utilizes creativity to uncover hidden emotions and feelings that hinder inner harmony. Through acrylic on canvas, I strive to bridge the conscious and subconscious, emotions and reason. My work expresses the emotions of individuals experiencing stress and inner conflict. I seek to visualize destructive states such as fear, anxiety, despair, doubt, emptiness, and pain. In my paintings, I aim to evoke associations that bring these suppressed emotions to the surface. By doing so, I encourage the viewer to engage in self-exploration, understand their inner self, and learn to regulate their emotional world. I am particularly drawn to Symbolism with elements of Surrealism. Through imagery, symbolism, and artistic techniques, I convey deep human emotions and unveil the essence of my work.
