At one point, I once again found myself searching for an image, a plant that would capture my attention—and I settled on the pea.
In various folk cultures, the pea symbolizes wealth, fertility, longevity, health, and even love. It is both a visual image and a plant richly described in traditional lore, even surrounded by its own legends.
I feel I could spend hours simply observing this plant—watching how it grows, studying its structure, its plasticity, its form. Its vivid green color captivates with both its clarity and its richness.
It was precisely at that moment that a client approached me. She described in detail what was to be depicted in the painting. It felt as if our thoughts aligned perfectly.
The image was to be of pea pods, each containing a specific number of peas. They were to rest on a white plate, and no other colors were to be used in the piece—only white and green.
This work can be viewed purely as a still life, suitable for adorning and enriching any space. Or, one might see in it the rhythm of the peas nestled comfortably in their pods.
While painting this piece, I entered a meditative state, during which I infused the work with deep meaning and conceptual fullness.
Such an image, I believe, has the power to draw financial prosperity—and even love—into your life.
