ICONA is an interdisciplinary Russian artist and performer whose work bridges fashion and art, creating innovative art objects that explore the fragility and temporality of existence. Born in Shelekhov, in the Irkutsk region, ICONA now resides and works in St. Petersburg.
ICONA's artistic practice is rooted in the exploration of impermanence, expressed through dynamic techniques and mediums. His first solo performance exhibition, Inside Out, debuted at the Arts Square Gallery in St. Petersburg. Another notable performance exhibition, Origins, celebrated the anniversary of the Bauhaus design school and included an immersive performance also held at Arts Square Gallery.
Among his most significant recent projects are Transition. Part I at the Art Residence "Shkaf" in St. Petersburg and Stars, directed by Andrey Bartenev in Suzdal. ICONA has also participated in prominent group exhibitions, including Glitch Me at the art space "Lines" in St. Petersburg and Significant Place at the multi-center "My Territory" in Tobolsk.
The artist has implemented various site-specific projects, most notably an unauthorized exhibition in an abandoned building in Norilsk, Russia. His collaboration with the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre included painting costumes for the premiere of The Curlew River, which was shortlisted for the prestigious Golden Mask award.
ICONA's key performances include Mendelssohn's Dream at Palma Loft Space (St. Petersburg), Folklore and the Future at the Ermak Garden Amphitheater (Tobolsk), and the five-day performance Communion at the International Diaghilev Festival (Shpagin Factory, Perm).
Special projects include a collaboration with the VkusVill brand for the GR-12 exhibition. Alongside exhibition work, ICONA engages in educational activities, conducting master classes across Russia. ICONA's works are held in private and corporate collections, reflecting their growing impact in contemporary interdisciplinary art.
