The Cathedral of the Protective Veil of the Holy Mother of God on the Ditch which is also called
St. Basil’s Cathedral is an orthodox temple situated on Red Square of Kitay-Gorod in Moscow.
Until XVII century it had been usually called Troitsky (Trinity) Cathedral since the original wooden
temple was dedicated to the Holy Trinity. It was also known as “Jerusalem” Cathedral which was connected
to both an initiation of one of side chapels and a cross procession to it from the Dormition cathedral
with the Patriarch riding a donkey on the Great and Holy week. Later in one of its side chapels
a well known holy fool Basil was buried because of whom the cathedral got its popular name.
The legend says that he himself gathered money in his laps for the future Protective Veil Temple to
be built, brought it to Red Square and threw over the right shoulder – copeck to copeck, and nobody,
not even thieves, touched the money. And before his death, in August 1552 he gave the money to Ivan
the Terrible who ordered to build a temple on that place.
There is a legend that when Ivan the Terrible saw the temple he ordered to blind the masters so
that they would never be able to create a wonder of equal beauty. It says that the tsar asked whether
the master was able to build a temple which would be equal to or better than that one, but the master
replied with a challenge in his voice: “I can!” That angered the tsar. So he cried: “You are a liar!” and
ordered to blind him so that the temple remained the only one.
The unique Protective Veil Cathedral became an incarnation of a Moscow National idea of the
Third Rome presenting an architectural picture of a Biblical New Jerusalem – the kingdom of God. It
was not only the place where people prayed, it was also an icon itself, an icon of stone.
Even today St. Basil’s Cathedral is one of the most famous sights of the Russian Federation. It is the
symbol of not only Moscow but also Russia for many people.
It is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

He graduated with honors from the Art School. He has worked as a decorative artist, journalist, entrepreneur, and educator.
Realizing that within the Soviet/post-Soviet educational system, it was impossible to work and develop effectively, since 1995, together with several like-minded individuals, he has been conducting classes with children and teenagers on a voluntary basis within the framework of an informal creative organization—the **Talented Artistic Offsprings (The Arts Observatory)**. He develops and implements a **New Educational System**.
### Author and co-author of: - A series of encyclopedias, books, creative kits, popular science, and web publications (with a total circulation of approximately one million copies sold). - Documentary and feature films.
### Participant (and winner) of exhibitions, forums, festivals, and conferences (including international ones).
He created and developed a unique style—**Jamoydism**.
**Jamoydism** is an art movement that synthesizes various techniques, materials, and approaches.
### One of its key messages: **"Hey, you in the back, do as Ja. But that doesn’t mean you should follow me. This track is only for Ja! Find your own path!"**

### *Talented Artistic Offsprings (The Arts Observatory)* An informal association created to overcome the lack of spirituality and culture in society, develop and implement the **New Educational System**, and unlock the universal, spiritual, and creative potential of every child and every person.
### **New Educational System** The key difference of the proposed educational system is the awakening and development of a person’s **spiritual, creative, and emotional potential** above all else.
It focuses not so much on intellect, memory, or rote memorization of facts (as in traditional school and extracurricular education), but rather on the **soul of the individual**, self-discovery, understanding the world and its phenomena, the ability to realize oneself and one’s ideas in life, prioritizing selflessness and values beyond personal gain, embracing and following **true universal human values**, and achieving genuine spiritual fulfillment.
