Painting Pastel

Pastel is an instrument widely used in plastic arts. Taking the form of a colored plastic stick, it is composed of pigments, a filler (chalk or plaster) and a binder (gum arabic, oil, wax). We mainly distinguish fatty pastels (oil or wax), dry pastels, whether soft or hard. Invented in Europe at the end of the 15th century, this tool was very quickly used by great portrait painters of French royalty, such as Charles Le Brun, Rosalba Carriera, Jean Siméon Chardin or Maurice Quentin de La Tour, who will be considered the "Prince of pastellists", thanks to a method of fixation of which only he knew the secret.

Pastel

Drawing made with a colored stick. It consists of pigments, a charge and a binder. A distinction is made between dry pastels (soft or hard) and fatty pastels (oil or wax).

Acrylic

Paint using traditional pigments mixed with synthetic resins.

Charcoal

Drawing made with a branch of Willow or charcoal of charred Europe. It enables to obtain very deep blacks, precise traces, thin or on the contrary very broad, depending on the way it is used.

Dominique BERTRAND peint beaucoup au feeling. Nombre de ses oeuvres de construisent au fur et à mesure de son imagination et du mouvement de son geste. Animatrice en arts plastiques, elle a reçu un Premier prix d'art abstrait à Barcelone en 2002. Côtée chez Akoun et chez Christian Soriano.

Ex fondatrice et directrice de la galerie d'art BOITE A REVES à Perpignan qui a oeuvré pour une soixantaine d'artistes plasticiens, photographes, écrivains, et organisé de nombreuses manifestations autour de l'art in et hors galerie: conférences, concours, cours et ateliers d'arts pour enfants et adultes, démonstrations de peinture.
Tableaux de facture figurative ou abstraite. Sculptures originales, amusantes, les boîtes à rêves,(nom de son invention), avec objets de récupération disposés dans des coffrets éclairés, certains animés par un plateau tournant ou une boite à musique, sculptures sur bois flottés. Ancienne élève d'une Ecole supérieure de l'art et de la communication, Dominique est surtout une artiste autodidacte douée d'une grande imagination. Son trait est sûr, ses couleurs sont souvent à dominante vive, comme sorties du tube. Elle utilise aussi des tons plus doux pour les aquarelles et les pastels. Plus de 750 créations, de nombreuses expositions en et à l'étranger dans des galeries et des foires internationales. (Russie, USA, ESPAGNE )
