Katarzyna Dietrych, born in 1965, is a contemporary Polish artist residing in the Southern part of Poland, near the Carpathian Mountains. Her fascination with art began at the age of 15, with a particular interest in Fiber Art that has defined her creative journey.
Dietrych initially pursued her ion at the High School of Fine Art in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, where she earned a diploma in Textile Art Design in 1985. She furthered her studies at the Wł. Strzemiński Academy of Art in Łódź, graduating with a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in 1990 under the mentorship of Professor Antoni Starczewski. Her artistic education continued with postgraduate studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, completed in 2005.
Known for her minimalist approach and commitment to Slow Life principles, Dietrych creates abstract art in both painting and Fiber Art. She focuses on distilling her work to its most essential elements, aiming to express the inexpressible through simplicity. Her pieces are celebrated for their unique style and meditative quality, reflecting balance and focused intention.
Dietrych is dedicated to sustainability in her art practice, using only recycled or up-cycled fibers and fabrics. She believes that the production of new, unnecessary items—both in art and everyday life—lacks justification. By prioritizing environmental responsibility, she hopes her work will inspire others to reconsider their consumption habits and appreciate the value of mindful creation.
