Photographing architecture: a story of looks 5g6t64
Architectural photography has its roots in the very beginnings of the medium. As early as 1826-1827, Nicéphore Niépce immortalized the first known architectural view with his famous View from the Window of Le Gras . Since then, the photographers' gaze has continued to evolve: from 19th-century daguerreotypes to contemporary urban explorations, each era shapes its way of seeing and representing the built space.
This curation celebrates the diversity of perspectives on architecture, between documentary rigor and artistic approach. Some works bear witness to a bygone era, like these historical photographs, others are part of the modernity of the Bauhaus , where photography embraces geometric lines and the play of light and shadow to redefine the perception of volumes. On the other hand, some photographers explore the fragility of buildings, captured in their state of abandonment. Urbex , in particular, reveals the raw poetry of deserted places, where nature reclaims its rights and where each crack tells a story.

A selection of works between interior and exterior 7314
In this curation, S onia Perrin explores architecture in all its complexity, between grandeur and vulnerability. The selected works question the way in which light, movement and the age of time shape our perception of built spaces. Some play with perspectives and light contrasts, like Philippe Rol , whose Cité Radieuse (2021) reinvents Le Corbusier's iconic corridors, or Michael Banifatov , who in WindowsDark #08 (2020) installs a dramatic tension between shadow and light. Others capture the essence of the architectural movement, like Corpron with Escaliers (2017), where pure and dynamic lines give an impression of fluidity and momentum.
Vista general del Teatre Principal (2020), Photography, La Makineta Del Temps
Architecture is also a witness to the age of time, sometimes frozen in an atmosphere of melancholy. Gone with the Dark №40 (2023) by Zheka Khalétsky plunges Bratislava into a vibrant darkness, where the building dialogues with the night. The memory of places resonates strongly in the works of Virginie Le Carré , where ruins and light meet in an almost unreal suspension. Frédéric Payet , for his part, inscribes his Echo of Forgotten Elegance in a setting imbued with nostalgia, where a piano and a broken mirror murmur the vestiges of a bygone grandeur. Finally, the theater, a performance space par excellence, becomes in La Makineta Del Temps a symbol of suspended time: in Vista general del Teatre Principal (2020), the silence still seems inhabited by the echo of the vanished spectators.
Sonia Perrin, through her curation work, invites us to question the sustainability of human constructions and the way in which the image preserves their memory. From the monumental building to the silent ruins, each photograph bears witness to the age of time and the evocative power of places. In and Out is not only an exhibition on architecture, but a reflection on our relationship to space, to memory and to the invisible that inhabits constructions.
