In 1958, Adami won the Marzotto Prize ex aequo and held his first solo exhibition in 1959 at the Galleria del Naviglio in Milan. Between 1961 and 1964, he worked between London and Paris, culminating in a personal exhibition at Documenta 3 in Kassel in 1964. In 1967, during his time in New York, he created a series of paintings that were later exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1968.
From 1969 onwards, Adami held solo exhibitions at Studio Marconi in Milan. In 1985, he created eight stained glass windows for the new Hôtel de Ville in Vitry-sur-Seine and had a retrospective at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. He was featured in the Bolaffi National Art Catalogue in 1980, alongside artists like Giulio Paolini and Mimmo Paladino. In 1986, he participated in the 42nd Venice Biennale and created two large s for the atrium of Gare d'Austerlitz in Paris. Subsequent notable pieces include five mural s for the First National City Bank in Madison and a large ceramic wall for the new School of Fine Arts in Cergy-Pontoise.
Adami’s production has been the subject of numerous retrospectives, including exhibitions in Madrid (1991), Siena (1994), Bochum (1997), and Buenos Aires (1998). His most recent solo exhibition, featuring pieces from his own collection, was inaugurated in Ravenna at the MAR - Museum of Art of the City on October 12, 2013. His 1967 serigraph "Untitled" is part of the collection at the Museo Cantonale d'Arte in Lugano.
