Dans la mythologie grecque, Agrios et Thoas ou Thoôn, fils d'Ouranos (le Ciel) et de Gaïa (la Terre), sont des Géants. Lors de la Gigantomachie, ils sont vaincus par les Moires armées de leurs massues de bronze. Ils ont été créés pour tuer les Parques\Moires, et donc arrêter les prophéties.
Les Géants étaient les fils de Gaia, la Terre, fécondée par le sang d'Ouranos que Cronos venait de mutiler.
Ces monstres d'une taille énorme et d'un aspect effroyable avaient les jambes terminées parfois en queue de serpent, ils étaient les frères des Titans que Zeus enferma au plus profond du Tartare.
Bien qu'ils soient d'origine divine, ils pouvaient être tués à condition d'être frappés à la fois par un dieu et un mortel. Certains étaient invincibles s'ils demeuraient sur leur terre natale.
