Broken Flower (No. 1) was the beginning of a series about our relationship to nature as a product and our handling and knowledge of it. In the studio, new plant objects are created from various organic materials on a light table for a short period of time. Inspired by the aesthetics of Leonhart Fuchs and Maria Sibylla Merian, the diverse details, structures and surfaces are presented in an almost hyperreal form. On closer inspection, however, breaks and impossibilities in the statics, form and color become obvious.

Florian Gruber erforscht in seinen Arbeiten ein breites Spektrum an Medien. Fotografie, Renderings, Klanginstallationen und -objekte werden spielerisch untersucht und gestaltet, um präzise Wirkweisen auf Themen des alltäglichen Lebens zu entwickeln.
Von 2003 bis 2008 studierte er an der Universität für angewandte Kunst in Wien „Medienübergreifende Kunst“ bei Bernhard Leitner und Erwin Wurm.
Anschließende Tätigkeiten als freischaffender Künstler und Fotograf sowie im Bereich Fotodesign. Zudem unterrichte Gruber an einer AHS in Wien das Fach „Kunst & Gestaltung“.
Da ich meinen Lebensmittelpunkt in Wien habe und fast ausschließlich mit printbasierten Medien arbeite, kooperiere ich seit vielen Jahren mit cyberlab, einem der führenden High-Tech-Fotolabore in Wien. Dadurch kann ich Prints im Fine-Art-Bereich auf allerhöchster Qualitätsstufe garantieren. Für mich ist es essenziell, vor Ort einen kompetenten Ansprechpartner in diesem Bereich zu haben, der in puncto Qualität und Langlebigkeit keinerlei Kompromisse eingeht.
