The work entitled Princess XI is a sculpture made in March 2024. Designed with the technique of industrial steel spring, half-spheres and mahogany rings, it measures 20 cm in height, 10 cm in width and 10 cm in depth.

This sculpture clearly refers to the famous "Princess X" by Constantin Brancusi, while being an extension of another of my sculptures, "Oculus". Each stage of its creation allowed the emergence of unexpected symbols, thanks to the magic of assembling different materials.

The eroticism of Princess XI aims to illustrate a powerful and intimate connection between two individuals, symbolized by the carefully crafted shapes and textures. The work on the springs brings a particular dimension to this sculpture, highlighting in the form of a wink the importance of a movement perceived by fantasy.

Princess XI thus embodies the encounter between matter and imagination, offering a work that is both sensual and technical, where every detail contributes to creating an artistic and intriguing experience.

Jean-Marc Gardeux is a contemporary French artist whose work is driven by three interdependent questions that shape his artistic approach. First, in a world overwhelmed with visual stimuli, he asks how to create less to achieve more—simplicity to evoke complexity, emptiness to generate fullness. Second, he seeks to invite the viewer to find personal meaning in what is not explicitly stated but only suggested in his work. Third, he explores how deliberate minimalism can convey movement by balancing harmony and disruption.

These questions are central to his artistic process. The first reflects his creative method, the second characterizes the viewer's relationship with his art, and the third ties them together, establishing a dialogue between his experience and that of the audience. Jean-Marc's work is a silent rebellion against excess and visual overload, designed to offer clarity and tranquility. He envisions a world where people slow down and seek meaning in the essential, stripping art to its core to evoke movement, provoke reflection, and bridge the physical with the conceptual.

His art is not about originality for its own sake or conforming to trends. Instead, Jean-Marc carves his own path, creating works that authentically reflect his personal experiences. Viewers often recognize his pieces as distinctly his, even without knowing the artist behind them. As he moves forward, Jean-Marc intends to deepen the radical nature of his approach, always maintaining his creative constraint: to keep it simple, acknowledging that simplicity is a complex endeavor.
