BLINDFOLD 019 (2024) Digital Arts by Jeanette Gibson
"Fine-Arts" prints on paper
It is a process of printing on art paper using very high-quality pigment inks and printed in very high definition. Its level of conservation is exceptional (more than 100 years), its quality, depth, and richness of nuances exceeds the classic photo print on Argentic paper.

Glossy finish
Apart from its exceptional thickness, the fiber paper is composed of an alpha-cellulose base without acid and it is covered with barium sulphate, and a microporous layer absorption enhancing pigments during printing. A pure white color, non-yellowing to light, this paper is especially designed for resistance and aging. It is used by major museums worldwide as it offers excellent resolution, rendering deep and dense colors.

The blindfold, traditionally associated with blindness or lack of awareness, takes on a new meaning in this piece. It suggests a deliberate turning away from the external world, a conscious choice to quiet the noise and distractions that often cloud our judgment. By obscuring physical sight, the blindfold paradoxically sharpens our inner vision, allowing us to perceive truths that may be hidden beneath the surface of everyday reality. It encourages us to rely less on external validation and more on the whispers of our intuition, the quiet knowing that resides within.
This act of introspection, of turning inward, is not always easy. It requires vulnerability, a willingness to confront our own shadows, insecurities, and hidden fears. The artwork acknowledges this vulnerability, portraying it not as a weakness, but as a crucial step in the process of self-discovery. By embracing our vulnerability, we open ourselves up to the possibility of profound transformation. We allow ourselves to be seen, not just by others, but more importantly, by ourselves. This self-acceptance is the cornerstone of personal growth, the catalyst that propels us forward on our journey of self-discovery.
The talismanic nature of the work adds another layer of meaning. A talisman is an object believed to possess magical powers, offering protection or bringing good fortune.
In this context, the artwork itself becomes a talisman, a visual reminder of the power we hold within. It serves as a tangible symbol of our commitment to self-exploration, a constant prompt to delve deeper into our own truths. It encourages us to trust our inner com, to have faith in our ability to navigate the uncharted territories of our own being.
Blindfold New Media Art 019 is not merely a decorative piece; it’s an invitation. It invites you to embark on a personal journey of self-discovery, to explore the depths of your own intuition, to embrace your vulnerability, and to allow yourself to be transformed by the power of self-knowledge. It serves as a visual mantra, a reminder that the answers we seek are often found not in the external world, but within the quiet sanctuary of our own hearts and minds. This print is a powerful addition to any space, offering a constant source of inspiration and encouragement on the path to finding your own truth. It is a testament to the power of art to not just decorate, but to illuminate, to challenge, and to ultimately, to heal.

JEANETTE GIBSON is a visual artist who blends a fine art background with a fascination for the alchemy of digital art and Artificial Intelligence. Her work, deeply rooted in between perception and reality (also a perceived construct), explores the intersection of the conceptual, expressive, and esoteric. Within her artistic universe, the veil parting perception and reality invites viewers on a journey that dissects perceptual boundaries: bondage (enslavement, servitude, and subjection), discipline (the practice of self-subjection or training people to obey), dominance (dominion, mastery, and control), submission (yielding, consent, acceptance) and the tangible, visible embodiment (personification, incarnation, and manifestation) of those perceptions.
Jeanette’s artistic exploration is deeply informed by the rich tradition of talismanic objects, imbued with spiritual significance:
CONNECTION TO THE SPIRIT WORLD | Often seen as bridges to the spirit world, talismans ground and connect the owner to wisdom and protection.
HARNESSING SYMBOLIC POWER | Channeling positive and grounding energy to those who resonate with the work.
MANIFESTATION AND INTENTION | Creating a psychic shield that affirms, deflects, neutralizes, and embalms the nervous system.
THE RITUAL OF CREATION | The creation process in itself is a spiritual practice. By imbuing her digital and AI-assisted art with intention and focus during the creative process, Jeanette is channeling the healing energy of embodiment into each piece she creates.
REALITY AND PERCEPTION | Traditionally, talismans blur the lines between the physical and spiritual realms. Jeanette’s exploration of this concept through digital and AI tools could be a way to question what we perceive as real and delve into the unseen forces that shape our world.
By incorporating these layers of spiritual significance from rich talismanic traditions, Jeanette elevates her art from the digital to the transcendent, inviting viewers to engage with deeper questions about themself and the universe.
