Born in Tilburg in 1970, she initially pursued fashion studies before enrolling at the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam, where she earned her degree in illustration in 1994. After working as a freelance illustrator and decorator for several years, Vermeer transitioned into creating her own independent artworks, focusing on paintings and murals.
Her lifelong fascination with fashion and female portraits stems from her early years spent browsing fashion magazines.
