Arley Lopes is a contemporary Brazilian sculptor and ceramist known for his self-taught expertise in ceramic sculpture. His career is distinguished by a series of notable exhibitions, workshops, and international events that showcase his talent and contribution to the field of ceramics.
Arley Lopes embarked on his artistic journey by exploring ceramic sculpture independently, honing his craft without formal training. His early efforts included holding workshops at the National Ceramics Congress in Brazil in 2006 and 2010. He also conducted workshops and exhibited his work in Campo Largo, Paraná, a region celebrated for its ceramic traditions.
In 2007, Lopes participated in the Popular Artist’s Room exhibition in Curitiba, Brazil. His solo exhibition, titled “Sculptures in Ceramics – ‘IMMIGRANTS’,” was held in 2009 at the Campo Largo Historical Museum. This exhibition highlighted his ability to convey complex themes through ceramic art.
Lopes’s work extended beyond Brazilian borders as he participated in significant international events. In 2005, he was involved in the “Year of Brazil in ,” and in December 2008, he showcased his art at the “Paraná Cultural Week in Austria” at the Vienna International Center, UN Headquarters. He also took part in the “Paraná Cultural Exhibition” at the Brazilian Embassy in Asunción, Paraguay, in September 2009.
His contributions to the arts were recognized in 2010 when he participated in the 5th Tourism Exhibition in São Paulo, where he taught a Sculpture Workshop. Additionally, he was a judge for the sculpture category at the XXI National Arts Exhibition and II South American Arts Salon in Curitiba in 2007.
In 2011, Lopes designed a series of ceramic navigation lighthouses for the Nautical Deck of Casa Cor in Curitiba, which honored Brazilian sailor Lars Grael. The miniatures were presented to Grael as a gesture of appreciation. He also created a replica of the image of Nossa Senhora da Luz dos Pinhais for the Cathedral Basilica of Curitiba.
Arley Lopes held a solo exhibition at the Mokiti Okada Foundation in Curitiba in 2013. His work is available for sale throughout Brazil, including in major cities such as Curitiba, São Paulo, Belém do Pará, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, and Rondônia.
