Sezgin, who was born in the Gemlik district of Bursa, graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Vocational Education, Department of Painting in 1987 and began teaching in Ankara. She also took part in the preparation of painting lesson curricula at the Ministry of National Education.

After returning to teaching, Sezgin focused on the traditional art of kat'ı (paper-cutting art). During her time in Sinop, with the of the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, she had the opportunity to showcase her works on an international platform. Her paintings created using the kat'ı technique were exhibited at a fair in Russia. After a 35-year teaching career, she retired.

Now 60 years old, Sezgin incorporates modern interpretations into her works, predominantly featuring nature themes. She has contributed to the promotion and preservation of traditional art by participating in solo and group exhibitions in major cities such as Ankara, İzmir, and Antalya.

Last year, Sezgin received the "Woman Artist of the Year" award from the Eskişehir Art Association. She has created nearly 50 works using the kat'ı technique, which is defined as "cutting out a motif or pattern from fine paper or leather and pasting it onto another surface."
