Scott Gregory Banner is a well-established photographer. He believes that photography is an important medium because it captures subjective moments in time. He believes that black and white and colour photography each have distinct aesthetic qualities. In black and white photography, the tonal range provides depth that can realise ‘more’ in an image. An example of this is the role that shadow plays in an image by 'creating' what appears to be a third dimension. Also, because black and white represents the period before colour, black and white photographs have timeless qualities that provide direct visual links to times past. In colour photography, the colour elements can realise distinct vibrancy and richness in an image. It is these distinct aesthetic qualities in black and white and colour photographs that he loves to capture.

Scott has traveled extensively, often to remote locations. This has been crucial for him gaining a better understanding of the physical landscape, cultures, and people of the world. Photography has played an important role in this investigation.

Scott has exhibited his work and his photographs have featured in journal publications in Australia and America and on Australian National television. He is also a contributor to the collections of the State Library of New South Wales.

Scott Gregory Banner was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, and currently resides there.
