Related themes
Xavier Debeerst, explorer of contradictions and confrontations in various fields of knowledge such as science, sociology, philosophy and politics, expresses his visual research through a variety of artistic mediums, including painting, collages, photos and the assemblages, which take shape according to the themes it explores.
At the basis of its visual language are five reproductions of children's drawings from the last century, made in five colors inspired by icons and frescoes. With these limited means, Xavier Debeerst works to create a new visual language, while integrating s such as tapestries from the 1950s, which serve as a historical counterpoint to his contemporary expression.
Originally from Ypres, Belgium, Xavier Debeerst studied art cinema and photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) in Ghent, with a thesis on the history of photography for the European Society of History of Photography (ESPh). His interest in history and photography remains constant, particularly exploring the interactions between photography and other media.
After a period in the art world, marked by various exhibitions, Xavier Debeerst pursued an international career in online marketing before founding the Anamorfose photo gallery, specializing in historical photography. Since 2016, he has lived and worked in the French countryside as a second-hand dealer, while embarking on artistic projects such as "Les Observatoires du Clain", an observatory with historic telescopes, and the " polarity_duality " exhibition in Sommières-du -Clain. His artistic commitment continues with his involvement in projects such as installation art and astronomy for the Verbeke Foundation as part of the "Junk Culture - City Art" project. Despite the challenges encountered, Xavier Debeerst remains dedicated to artistic exploration and the search for new creative horizons.
