I aimed at achieving the female figure’s back flowing to its front. This task required to use a technique completely new to me.
Thus, the sculpture became transparent.
When I decided to make this sculpture, I didn’t even have an idea how I would name it. I was already finishing it when I discovered this pose in yoga. It’s called “PUPPY”. Yogis claim it reduces stress and is good for the spine.

Igor Vasilenko was born in 1958 in Ukraine. He made his first clay sculptures and wood works on a sculpture course when he was studying at the department of architecture in the Institute.
Later, already an architect, Igor worked with a lot of building and finishing materials. He studied their properties and tried them on for further use in small plastics, for creating small architectural forms in particular. This experience became useful to him when he began developing sculptures for open spaces.
Currently, when creating his sculptures, he experiments with ceramic tiles, sheets of light alloys (copper, brass, aluminum), plastic, etc. But steel wire became his real ion. He came to this material by accident, when he was looking for the right material for one of his compositions and nothing was suitable for the task except wire. With wire, Igor felt a new freedom for shaping and saw endless possibilities for expressing energy. Sometimes he covers his wire sculptures with various paints, but usually leaves them as they are.
In his abstract artworks, Igor strives to reveal the theme of multiplicity of interpretations, play, variability, inner life and resilience of the human spirit. In doing so, he sometimes refers to the history of ancient cultures of Egypt, Mesopotamia, India, Mexico and Trypillya. His images are allegorical, symbolic, metaphorical and sometimes surreal or fantasy.
