Joe Moreira Alcântara, Brazilian, Amazonian, sculptor, is part of a family of sculptors called “J. Alcântara”, he learned the art of working with wood from his father and developed the art of carving and sculpting. Joe has been working with sculptures since he was 10 years old. He started helping his father, who is also a sculptor, to make furniture, then he started sculpting felines, with a particular focus on the jaguar sculpture.
He currently works sculpting various animals from the Amazon fauna. His works have been well received by the public since the beginning. The sculptures are made from wood waste, in blocks of raw wood without ts.
To create the sculptures, Joe develops research on the anatomical study and habits of animals so that realism can be translated into the work, with impressive results. With his own style, Joe already has works spread across several regions and published in several books on Brazilian popular art
