This is one of the most intact celestial murals remaining at Majishan, still vibrant in color and with clear lines. The use of "iron wire outline" technique renders the Feitian figures clear and delicate, with a strong and graceful presence.
The flowing clouds and cascading celestial garments, combined with the splendid central pearl, make the entire scene breathtakingly beautiful. This style of Feitian depiction is rare in the northern grottoes of China.

Since the late 1960s, Liu Junqi has been studying painting and wall mural copying in Dunhuang. After spending 10 years studying and working at the Mogao Caves, he was itted to the Fine Arts Department of Northwest Normal University. Upon graduation, he ed the Tianshui Maijishan Grottoes Art Research Institute.
Over the next 30 years, he participated in and led the copying and preservation work of the Buddhist mural paintings in the Maijishan Grottoes, earning international acclaim for these murals.
Liu Junqi is known for his works featuring a variety of mural copying styles and unique large-scale expressive ink paintings of horses. These works not only integrate the characteristics of Chinese grotto murals but also embody the essence of traditional Chinese painting.
